An all new baseball-fans podcast from Scotland that focuses on the experience of baseball rather than the stats and in-depth analysis. Four fans, three from Scotland and a proud Yorkshireman, share their experience of following America’s game at home and abroad. The football loving fans from across the pond get into America’s game and seek to understand, explain and enjoy it from a lifetimes experience of watching traditional British sports. The Bullpen bros are rooting for the Detroit Tigers, Seattle Mariners, Boston Red Sox and Chicago White Sox. During the 2023 season we’ll bring you a regular review to help you not just understand what’s happened but importantly help you understand the simple yet complex game. We’ll give you our Heroes, Villains, Highlights, Fantasy Baseball update and our Triple AAA, Ask About Anything to help us all learn. Plenty of laughs along the way and mascot Hamish the Highland Bull makes regular appearances!

The Bullpen Bros complete their Grand Slam of MLB season previews by crossing the Atlantic to team up with SouthSide Zo, from the Pinwheels and Ivy Chicago baseball podcast.
We shoot the breeze about the upcoming Major League Baseball season and Zo lifts the lid on life (and baseball) in the sports-mad city of Chicago.
Zo reveals his love for a famous Scottish sporting export. He's also shocked and delighted when the Bullpen Bros are able to reveal another celebrity White Sox fan, to join former POTUS Barack Obama!
He also discusses how one of his most memorable baseball moments came watching his city rivals, the Cubs.
It's another great episode and sets the scene for the Highland Bullpen's upcoming Opening Day special, when Richard, Alan, Yorkshire Dave and Dave Junior will review what's sure to be a spectacular opening to the 2021/22 baseball season.
Cheers and enjoy the chat.

The Highland Bullpen Sports Podcast Series 2 Episode 5 Detroit Tigers 2021
Tuesday Mar 16, 2021
Tuesday Mar 16, 2021
The Bullpen Bros welcome veteran Detroit Tigers fan Dave Peake to preview the upcoming season. Let's face it we know where the Tigers will be when we get to October so we have some great chat with Dave on his history of supporting the Tigers.
First up Dave delves into his memory banks for the 1968 World Series win for the Tigers. Fascinating for us novice fans listening to someone able to recount key plays from over 50 years ago.
Dave talks next about the 1984 team and indeed we get into a debate about who would win a series between the two teams!
Success hasn't followed the Tigers since then despite another World Series win but we've plenty of good young prospects in the Tigers Dave can talk to us about.
We also get Dave's insights on inter University rival in Michigan sports and as always we enjoy the rivalry chat. Dave questions us about the delights of Scottish football and we promise to meet up in Detroit over a bottle of Glen Ord malt whisky.
Cheers and enjoy the chat.

On this show we are joined by Cammy Bell of Heart & Hand podcast for an hours chat. A podcast for fans of Rangers Football Club, Champions of Scotland. H & H has been going for ten years and has been voted in the Top 20 Podcasts in both of the last two years BPA Awards and is also a Top 100 Podcast in Patreon.
Successful fan media which sees the podcast as official accredited media of the Club, Cammy talks us through the evolution of the podcast and how it’s achieved its’ status. Some ideas for many podcasters there.
For fans of groundhopping and Rangers Cammy also talks us through a range of his travels supporting the Gers through Scotland into England and throughout Europe. Alcohol tends to be involved in many of the stories. Bullpen Bro, Yorkshire Dave, also realises he too once attended a Rangers away game in Europe as the Scottish champions won the 1992 Battle of Britain!
We also veer into American sports, watching Rangers on the TV in the USA from California to New York. And we take the opportunity to discuss greatest Rangers players and indeed which legends of the club would fit into today’s team. At some point Cowdenbeath and Lisbon get compared but we did say alcohol was involved.
We hope you enjoy the listen.

The Highland Bullpen Sports Podcast Season 2 Episode 2 Boston Red Sox
Tuesday Mar 02, 2021
Tuesday Mar 02, 2021
So what's to make of the Boston Red Sox in 2021? Join the Bullpen Bros and Terry Cushman of The Bastards of Boston Baseball as we get Terry's insights on how the Red Sox will fare this year.
Terry takes us on his journey from a NASCAR supporting family in Maine to the bleachers at Fenway Park. With some tips for where to eat and drink when visiting this historic park.
In this 60 minute episode Terry gives us his view on the pitching rotation and who's going to make the big hits for the Boston team. He's even gracious enough to make a recommendation for UK visitors to Fenway to take the trip down to Yankee Stadium too.
We get some insights to Boston and the surrounding area, we talk boxing between fans Richard and Terry who tells us his favourite all time boxer is British. And of course a mention for Liverpool FC owner John Henry too.
And no Red Sox chat on the Highland Bullpen would be complete without another great Ted Williams story, indeed one not even super fan, Bullpen Bro Dave, knew the final line to! Thanks to Terry for giving us his time.

The Highland Bullpen Baseball Podcast Season 2 Episode 1 Seattle Mariners 2021
Tuesday Feb 23, 2021
Tuesday Feb 23, 2021
Want to know what to expect of the Seattle Mariners in 2021? The Bullpen Bros catch up with Matthew Roberson of the excellent Lookout Landing podcast.
Richard, our resident Mariners fan, leads the way in asking Matthew to talk us through what fans can realistically expect in terms of results. We also discuss what the pitching rotation will bring, rookies we can hope to see and check out on existing star players.
Matthew also gives us a potted history of his lifetime of supporting the Mariners, although sadly he never knew that in 2001 it wasn't (yet) going to get any better.
He reveals his favourite player as a youngster is also the dad of Bullpen Bro and Detroit Tigers fan Alan's current favourite player! Which ages him dramatically.
And for visitors to Seattle for a game Matthew gives us an insight into the city and surrounding area. From tourist spots, to the music scene and of course we check on the bars.

The baseball close season continues and so our Highland Bullpen bros have turned their attention to football, 'soccer' to our friends across the Atlantic!
We debate the most memorable Scotland international games of the past 50 years. Few countries have experienced the highs and lows, triumphs and tragedies, that Scotland have encountered in the last half century.
Plenty of Tartan Army legends are discussed by the Bros, including Jock Stein, Ally McCoist, Kenny Dalglish, Davie Cooper, Archie Gemmell and more.
With so much to pack in, including unforgettable World Cup campaigns and qualifiers, this is part one of a two-part series.
Enjoy and look out for part two in the next week.

The Highland Bullpen - What will 2021 Bring?
Tuesday Jan 19, 2021
Tuesday Jan 19, 2021
Alan and the "Two Daves" (sounds like a TV show or a 1980's band?) caught up recently to talk about their hopes for 2021 for the Detroit Tigers, Chicago White Sox and Boston Red Sox.
They also chat about their general hopes (or lack of?) for travelling to see a game this year. Covid plays its' part and the Bros' face the reality that if it's October we can travel will any of these teams still be slugging away?
We hope you enjoy the listen and more importantly we hope you have a great 2021!

The Highland Bullpen does.... Darts

Friday Jan 08, 2021
Take me out to the oche.
Our baseball and football loving Bullpen Bros take a diversion from the old ball game to chat about the darts having enjoyed the recent PDC World Championships.
One time pub team player Dave Jnr talks us through his evenings chatting with the stars of the Darts Premier League we watch on Sky Sports. And tells us why Michael Smith ignored him in favour of a Mars Bar.
Dave Snr takes over and chats about the night he played, and was beating, 3 times World Champion Martin Adams which reminds Richard of the night he was asked to get in the ring with Kick Boxing Champion Pele Reid! He's a big lad, but really? Find out what happened next.
Alan closes the chat off with some guidance on enjoying a night at the darts (cheers!) and gives some guidance on visiting the Glasgow Premier League venue of the SSE Hydro.
Enjoy the show!
