An all new baseball-fans podcast from Scotland that focuses on the experience of baseball rather than the stats and in-depth analysis. Four fans, three from Scotland and a proud Yorkshireman, share their experience of following America’s game at home and abroad. The football loving fans from across the pond get into America’s game and seek to understand, explain and enjoy it from a lifetimes experience of watching traditional British sports. The Bullpen bros are rooting for the Detroit Tigers, Seattle Mariners, Boston Red Sox and Chicago White Sox. During the 2023 season we’ll bring you a regular review to help you not just understand what’s happened but importantly help you understand the simple yet complex game. We’ll give you our Heroes, Villains, Highlights, Fantasy Baseball update and our Triple AAA, Ask About Anything to help us all learn. Plenty of laughs along the way and mascot Hamish the Highland Bull makes regular appearances!

Opening Day Special for MLB 2023
Thursday Mar 30, 2023
Thursday Mar 30, 2023
Major League Baseball is back on Opening Day 2023! And so is the Highland Bullpen - the baseball podcast from bonnie Scotland.
Host Rich takes a look back through the history books to find out if the omens are good for our favourite teams. Spoiler alert - not so much for the Bullpen bros who follow the Sox (any colour)!
Highlander Alan talks us through his Spring Training trip to Florida where he packed in tons of sporting action, as per usual. He also reveals his hopes for the Detroit Tigers as they embark on another AL Central campaign. Last year, Dave Junior's Chicago White Sox took the Bullpen bragging rights, but Al is hoping his Tigers can turn the tables in 2023.
Elsewhere, Yorkshire Dave is hopeful that the underachieving Boston Red Sox can get Fenway rocking after a lacklustre 2022. He's also looking forward to his own US trip.
And Rich makes a bold claim about the Seattle Mariners, backing his favourites to unseat the Astros and be World Series contenders.
There's also quality chat about the success of baseball players from Japan.
So another packed episode from Scotland.

Rugby League World Cup 2021 in 2022!
Saturday Nov 19, 2022
Saturday Nov 19, 2022
The Bullpen Bros expand their sporting travels as the Rugby League World Cup visits the North east of England. Tickets were bought in 2020 for the 2021 event which we saw in 2022!
Dave Senior is a season ticket holder at Leeds Rhinos and entertained Alan over 4 days with some class action and sport (and alcohol...) with young dave joining us in Newcastle and Middlesbrough.
Rugby League is different from Rugby Union in several ways and we reckon a game our American friends would enjoy more and we are not biased.
Our games were New Zealand All Blacks v Ireland at Headingley, Scotland v Fiji at Kingston Park, Tinga V Cook Islands at the Riverside finishing with Papua New Guinea and Wales in Doncaster.
Rugby, travel, groundhopping, friendship and a few beers and other stuff (it was on offer...) along the way.

After a roller-coaster regular MLB season, the Seattle Mariners are carrying the hopes of the Highland Bullpen in the post-season. Richard is celebrating the end of a 20-year postseason drought but can his boys beat the Toronto Blue Jays in the play-offs?
Yorkshire Dave reckons there are positives despite the Boston Red Sox' bruising season while Chicago White Sox fan Dave Junior sheds a tear or two as his first baseball hero bids farewell to the Windy City.
Detroit Tigers fan Alan is still on a high from his recent road trip to Seattle and admits he's rooting for Seattle's finest ahead of tonight's play-off opener.

Bullpen bro does Seattle and what’s up with those Red Sox!

Monday Aug 22, 2022
The Bullpen Bros are back and one of them has been our man in Seattle, after taking in four Mariners game during his recent trip to the USA (spoiler alert, it's NOT who you think!). He shares his thoughts on the Mariners and whether or not they will achieve their play-off dream, plus his take on the charms of the city of Seattle.
Yorkshire Dave meanwhile isn't quite ready to give up on the Red Sox for the season, despite the troubles at Fenway.

6-5 to the Red Sox, not quite...and a Half Way Report Card
Wednesday Jul 13, 2022
Wednesday Jul 13, 2022
The Bullpen Bros are back and loving the stats! Red Sox fan Dave recounts a previous episode (season 2 episode 17) where we discussed our favourite scores and common scores. His was 6-5, only happens once in every 33 games but it’s been a lot more this season for the Sox. Alan chimes in with a not unsurprising remark on his favourite score vis a vis how the Tigers are doing.
The White Sox meander along unsuccessfully to young Dave’s continued frustration after a couple of promising season, but why does he still hold out hope? You can listen in. He also spouts forth on his love of pitching and how his appreciation has changed by his regular late night TV watching.
The All Star Game is coming up and an interesting feature of the picks from Richard’s all conquering (well just now) Mariners plus we chat about the Commissioners Picks.
Minor League mentions for Ripken at Durham Bulls, who is he? And why are another North Carolina team, Burlington Sock Puppets represented over in Scotland?

Which Bullpen is beating the Tigers this week?
Friday Jun 24, 2022
Friday Jun 24, 2022
The Bullpen Bros are back for another week of chat. Alan reveals the standings in the Division just involving our four teams, which explains Richard's absence from the chat as his Mariners are down with the Tigers. But who of Red or White Sox currently tops the table?
We chat about what yo'd do with a Home Run baseball after some surprising negotiations involving the Astros and a 16 year old lad.
Optimism remains that the two versions of the Sox will make the play offs.
The importance of Run Differential, aka goal difference.
And in covering other sports we touch on all things Yorkshire with test cricket, US Open golf and of the course the Leeds Rhinos.
Did we also mention our very first mention of the Sugar Land Space Cowboys?

Remembering Ray, the magic of Seville, baseball banter and more
Thursday Jun 09, 2022
Thursday Jun 09, 2022
We're now into the heart of the 2022 MLB season and the baseball action has been hotting up. Apologies for the delay with this episode due to technical issues, but it is definitely worth the wait.
The Bullpen bros pay tribute to Field of Dreams hero and Hollywood star Ray Liotta.
Alan and Dave Junior reflect on their magical trip to Seville to see their soccer heroes Rangers come agonisingly close to glory in the 2022 Europa League Final.
While Yorkshire Dave leads the round-up of the latest action in MLB.

The Bullpen meets Wool -e-Bull at Durham Bulls Opening Day
Tuesday Apr 26, 2022
Tuesday Apr 26, 2022
The Bullpen Bros from Scotland catch up on their first live Baseball match post pandemic as our native Highlander Alan visits Durham, NC and goes to see Durham Bulls on Opening Day
Alan and Dave Snr chat through the evening at the wonderfully named Durham Athletic Park.
The baseball didn't go so well for the Bulls, getting easily beat and waiting a while for former Detroit Tiger Isaac Paredes to get their first hit.
But a great night out all round with the club mascot leading the entertainment, a pre game flyover, beer and snacks, between innings fun and ending up with a wonderful fireworks display.
We hope you enjoy listening and look forward to hearing from you sharing your experiences.

Here we Go, the Season is a Go!
Wednesday Mar 16, 2022
Wednesday Mar 16, 2022
The Bullpen Bros from Scotland share their excitement at the news the season is happening. But with so many rule changes that they need to figure them all out! But of course it needs some New York dramas first..
Did no one realise until now that New York ball players couldn't work in New York, how is it suddenly a story? No one follow the NBA?
The early season action sees plenty of inter Bullpen match ups, who'll come out of the blocks fast?
Traditionalist Alan shares his pleasure at the changes in the schedule as it moves one more step to logic which always beats tradition. But what do we think of the DH changes, the play off changes, bigger bags and no shifts? All seen through the eyes of some mere Scottish football fans.
And after 55 minutes of baseball chat we get to talking about the first ever "salt and vinegar" and "salt and sauce" Scottish Cup semi finals in the same season. And should there be an open draw in baseball play offs?
Groundhopping to see the Wombles of Wimbledon and to Pumpherston to see the locals pumped. Dave Jnr then quizzes the Bros on Scottish football stadia with capacity in excess of 10000.
